Growing up in southwest Miami-Dade, Dr. Soler lived in a home so filled with animals that his childhood friends referred to it as a "zoo."
His dad was a surgeon whose patients often expressed their gratitude by giving the family everything from goats to ducks, which shared space in their suburban backyard alongside more typical pets like dogs and cats. Watching his mother spend hours shearing sheep to help keep them cool in the South Florida heat helped Dr. Soler realize that loving your pets means more than just petting and feeding them -- it means devoting yourself to every facet of their health and well-being by understanding and addressing their unique needs, and treating them like you would a member of your family.
