Dr. Ailin Corella was born and raised in Miami, Florida. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Romance Languages (French)/Pre-Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida in 2007.
During her undergraduate studies, she worked at Gainesville Animal Hospital as a veterinary technician. She also participated in the Operation Catnip Program, Mill Creek Farm Retirement Home for Horses, and Pre-Veterinary Club. During the last year of undergrad, she completed an intense French program in Avignon, France.
Ailin earned her Master in Public Health from the University of Florida. For her thesis, she researched the success of early staging cancer for the Florida Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program in Broward County. After her thesis was completed, she was offered a grant and hired by the Florida Department of Health in Broward County as a senior program manager where she developed the Living Well Program. The program's main goals were to encourage women quit smoking, eat healthier, and engage in exercise. While working for the health department, she was also involved with organizing health fairs, case managing, and HIV surveillance research.
Ailin received her veterinary degree from St. George's University in Grenada and completed her clinical year at the University of Georgia. Throughout her time in Grenada, she was part of the Veterinary Public Health Committee whose main focus was to organize the One Health One Medicine clinics in Grenada. For the clinics, the veterinary and medical school collaborated to offer free wellness exams and preventative care to residents, their pets and livestock. As a co-chair of the VPH Committee, Ailin and a group of students won the Global Alliance for Rabies Control One Health Competition that was presented at the World Veterinary Association and the World Medical Association Conference on One Health in Madrid, Spain (May 2015). She also received the Zoetis Service Award (2016) and Novartis Small Animal Parasitology Award (2014) for her service to the Grenadian community.
Ailin completed her Small Animal Medicine and Surgical Internship as a Licensed veterinarian at VCA Hollywood Animal Hospital in July 2018. She was mentored by board certified specialists during service rotations including internal medicine, emergency/critical care, cardiology, dermatology, neurology, and ophthalmology. After completing the internship, she was hired at VCA Alton Road Animal Hospital in Miami Beach.
Ailin loves spending time with her family, including her new baby boy, Ben. Ailin enjoys traveling, film and art festivals, and beach days with her chihuahua rescue, Lily. She has a special interest in public health, as well as internal medicine, dermatology, and soft tissue surgery.
